UC San Diego Recognizes World AIDS Day with Memorial Quilt Display and Other Events

The University of California, San Diego will honor World AIDS Day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 1 with a variety of free, public events, including a viewing of portions of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, which is the largest ongoing community arts project in the world.

New Global Rankings by U.S. News Name UC San Diego 18th Best University in World

The University of California, San Diego is one of only five top public universities in the U.S. to make the top 20 list in a new ranking of the world’s top 500 colleges. The campus took the No. 18 spot in U.S. News and World Report’s first-ever global ranking of universities which measured factors such as research, global and regional reputation, international collaboration as well as number of highly-cited papers and doctorates awarded.

UC San Diego Named One of Best Colleges for Food in U.S.

The University of California, San Diego been named among the best colleges for food in the United States, according to the Daily Meal website, which nationally covers food and drink topics. UC San Diego came in 19th place in the website’s list of the “75 Best Colleges for Food in America.”

PayScale Ranks UC San Diego 15th Best Public College for Return on Investment (ROI)

A recent college salary report by PayScale.com ranks the University of California, San Diego the 15th best public university for its return on investment (ROI) for alumni who are California residents. In addition, UC San Diego is listed as having the 10th best ROI, out of 434 public colleges, for mid-career (15 year of experience) alumni who earn on average more than $100,000 annually.

UC San Diego’s César E. Chávez Events Celebrate Chicano Culture and Civil Rights

César E. Chávez, civil rights advocate, labor leader and proponent of nonviolent activism, is the center of a series of celebratory events at the University of California, San Diego throughout the months of April and May. The events will include the performance of a one man show on Chávez, a presentation on the historic United Farm Workers (UFW) march to Sacramento in 1966, the celebration of the 44th anniversary of Chicano Park and more.
